FAQs/Embed YouTube Videos

How can I add (or embed) a YouTube video to my SlideShare presentation?

Archana Kulshrestha January 22, 2010

You can add a YouTube video to your SlideShare presentation by following the steps below:

  1. Log in to your account, and click on My Uploads from the drop down on the top right of the page.
  2. Click on Edit under the presentation you wish to add the Youtube video to and select Add Video.

        3. Place the URL for your Youtube video and select what slide your video will appear before.

        4. If you wish to insert another video, click on +Add another video.

        5. Once you have inserted all of your videos, click on Insert and Publish.

        6. The video/s will now appear inside your presentation.

You can view it here". I have tryed several times yesterday and the day, but unfortunatly the video will not show.

It appears that I have the same problem as the 2 posters above. I go to the presentation edit screen, scroll down to the Add YouTube video section, enter the URL which I copied from YouTube, set the position and click on Insert and Publish button. Nothing happens. When I view the presentation no video has been inserted.

I also noted that the button marked "+Add additional video" does not seem to function either.

ANSWER: The demo video is using Mozilla Firefox as their internet browser. I was having the same problem as the people above in Internet Explorer, so I tried adding the video using my Firefox browser. It works! There must be some bug/error when trying to use Internet Explorer.

My presentation doesn't have the Insert YouTube Videos tab. It is a slidecast. Am I not allowed to add videos to a presentation that is linked to an mp3?

My first day on this site. Need to upload video from YouTube. Can't find a way to do it. Not especially impressed with this site's usability.

Signed up a month ago, and only got the YouTube feature to work ONCE.  Still having the same problem as the first commenter.  Tried with both Firefox and Chrome.  Seriously, SlideShare implemented this almost a year and a half ago.  You would think they got it right by now.

Does anyone know why the option to upload You Tube videos vanishes after you add mp3 (voice in this case) files to the presentation? I am guessing this is a limitation that exists here and/or it's a bug that is not yet identified...any ideas gang???

Embedded the video, it says that it is part of the slideshow but when I view the slideshow no youtube video. And the number of slides is the same number as what I uploaded - no aditional page for the video.  What's going on?

Same problem as TheBroomRoom, it says videos are  inserted, but they are not. Fix this or remove the feature, please.

I seem to be able to upload the video's and where they should start in my presentation. I watched it a few times and even showed a few people. Next day the videos will not start in the slide presentation. I have updated the lot, presentation and videos a number of times and still it will not work. I am using I.E. 8

I can see the first few seconds of the video and then it goes to the next slide. It doesn't show the whole video. Is there a way to adjust the slide timing manually? Then I could set that slides timing in accordance with the youtube video. Please let me know if this is possible!

I want to show a video from TeacherTube because my school district blocks YouTube. Can I embed a video from TeacherTube? How?

I don't get any YouTube Embed possibility on my presentation. It's a converted PDF, is that the reason ?

My video from YouTube loads and plays just fine on my slideshare linked to Facebook. However, when I put this on my Wordpress blog, it just says "YouTube loading" and never loads the video. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks!

The "Insert YouTube" tab showed up once in the edit mode, and worked.  Now, it doesn't show up anymore.  There doesn't seem to be any information anywhere on the site as to the cause....no YouTubes, for now.

Here is the solution:

The upload has to be a 'presentation' not a 'document'.  Slideshare will determine this depending upon the Length x Width perspective.  If you format your Powerpoint in portrait mode (or your .pdf) - it will upload as a 'document' not a 'presentation'.  Embedding of YouTube videos is not premitted in 'document', only 'presentation'.

Couple things - the good - the bad - the ugly

The Good:
you can add multiple youtube videos after a slide. I've only done this at  the end of a presentation  - not sure if it works in between two slides.

The Bad:
Hyperlinks in your 2007 PPTX file (PowerPoint 2007), that link to slides in the preso, don't work after you upload to slideshare. That means if you use links on a Table of Contents page - they wont work.

The Ugly:
youtube videos, that work in powerpoint, don't work at all when uploaded to SlideShare.

Keep  at it guys - you're getting there!

Follow-up to the previous post.

I added  19 youtube videos after the TOC (table of contents) on slide one. All the youtube videos are playing - BUT not in the order I specified.

Hi there!

I love this feature - and when it works it been quick and easy - BUT I keep getting a pop up that asks for the correct URL or something to that effect.

Can you help me get this to work?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo0zzDcGCp4   is the video - and my last upload about Mash-ups is the slideshare  - I wanted this after 2nd slide.

I don't see a place ANYWHERE for uploading a YouTube video - not when I first upload, and not when I click "Edit".  I don't see the same thing that you do in the tutorials.
